Projects

Since 1999 the group has been working within the framework of the international AErosol RObotic NETwork(AERONET) project managed by NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, Code 614.4, Greenbelt, USA. The project is related to monitoring of aerosol optical properties with sunphotometer Cimel- 318 within the AERONET network. One of the instruments is placed at the site in Kishinev (Moldova) and is integrated into the international network. Results of aerosol monitoring at our station can be looked on the AERONET site here.

Since 2003 our group takes participation in the international Solar Radiation Network (SolRad-Net) project which is concerned with the solar radiation monitoring at the sites with layout of the sunphotometer CIMEL -318. Results of solar radiation measurements at our station can be looked on the SolRad-Net site here.

In 2003-2005 the group was carrying out research on theme "Long-term continuous monitoring of radiative properties of the atmosphere in urban environment of Kishinev". This project was supported by the Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF ) и Moldovan Research and Development Association (MRDA) within the frames of BGP-II program through the grant #ME2-3033. The project was fulfilled in cooperation with Dr. A. Smirnov and T. Eck from Goddard Earth Sciences & Technology Center ( GESTC), UMBC and NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), code 614.4. Achievements of the project were noted by the CRDF as remarkable ones.

Since 2005 the group has been carrying out research on theme "Investigation of the variability of aerosol optical thickness and solar irradiance in an urban environment in Kishinev" within the framework of program SCOPES 2005-2008. The project is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation through the grant # IB7320-110935. Researches are carried out in collaboration with Prof. Atsumu Ohmura, Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science (IACETH), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH).

Since 2006 group has been carrying out researches on a budgetary theme "Optical characteristics of atmosphere and monitoring of solar radiation in Kishinev " (# 06.408.015A ).
